# Effects

Effects let Skript, well, ***effect*** things. Every action you have Skript perform is an effect. Effects range from setting, deleting and changing values of variables and expressions to killing or teleporting entities, enchanting items, creating explosions, and many, many more.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Be sure to use a Skript effect instead of making Skript execute console commands.

New Skript users commonly execute console commands to add and remove potion effects, teleport players, or fill blocks. However, Skript has more streamlined methods to do each of these!
