# Naming

When naming variables, functions, commands, and anything else, be sure to give them a thoughtful and sensible name related to their purpose. This makes sure that you'll always be able to remember what they're for, that way you don't have to spend time needlessly sifting through your code.

Another good idea is to name things in a conventional case, such as camel case or snake case.

See the [Case page](https://x8ight.gitbook.io/conventions/organisation/case/) for more on naming things in camel or snake case.
{% endhint %}
